WASC – FOL
Throughout the spring and fall of 2005, each of the WASC/FOL Focus Groups spent numerous hours discussing FOL criteria, examining a variety of test data and student work as evidence of students’ mastery of local, State, and National standards, thereby developing the foundation for their Focus Group reports. Preliminary drafts of Focus Group reports were written in the fall of 2005. During this process areas of strength and areas for growth emerged from each group. Preliminary growth needs identified by each of the five Focus Groups were presented to the Leadership Team, the faculty and staff, the School Site Council and other stakeholders in October, 2005. Each growth need was discussed in detail and dialogue centered on emerging themes identified by several Focus Groups. During the months of November and December, the themes were posted electronically for continued discussion at FMMs, and Focus Group and Leadership Team meetings.
The Leadership Team reviewed growth needs and stakeholder comments and began to organize the needs into Action Plan Components in November, 2005. After extensive and lengthy discussion of the growth needs presented by the Focus Groups, five major Action Plan components emerged as the consensus of the Leadership Team. The Leadership Team outlined the sub-components, responsibilities, assessment measures, a timeline and a communication of progress section for each Action Plan component and by late-November, the Action plan was written in final draft form. On December 2, 2005, the Action Plan was finalized by the Leadership Team and presented to Focus Groups for review.
Additional input was received throughout December and early January, and the Santa Susana High School Action Plan, 2006 – 2012, was presented to all stakeholders in January, 2006. The finalized Action Plan was presented to the Santa Susana High School staff at the regularly scheduled FMM on January 13, 2006, for final review and approval. Throughout the month of January, the approved Action Plan was presented to all other stakeholders at their regularly scheduled meetings for review and approval as well.
