Component 4 – Curriculum and Instruction: Provide rigorous and relevant course offerings delivered through effective instruction that recognizes varied learning styles, in order to prepare all students for postsecondary life in the 21st century.

Rationale:
  1. Rigor is an essential component of curriculum in order to adequately prepare students for postsecondary life in the 21st century
  2. Studies prove that students learn in a variety of ways and that teachers must adapt instruction to meet all students’ needs
  3. Research shows that students who find relevance in coursework are more successful
  4. Research shows that high expectations, despite individual student abilities, lead to increased student achievement….

Annual Goals and Benchmarks: Analyze data to improve instructional practices
Engage an ever-increasing number of faculty/staff annually in outside professional development opportunities
Increase annually the % students completing a-g requirements

Report Progress:
Administrators and Focus Group Leaders will report progress to parents, staff, and students during Site Council meetings, Parent Nights, Leadership Team meetings, Friday Morning Faculty meetings, Department meetings.

Frequency:
The Focus Group Leaders will review progress biannually in December and April. Modifications and revisions to the action steps will be made as needed to ensure achievement of the growth targets. School administrators will conduct classroom observations regularly and will conduct teacher evaluations biannually. Faculty will analyze test data and progress annually as scores are published. Teachers will participate in professional development as frequently as possible and appropriate, and will report findings to staff and relevant staff members when appropriate.
